About Me

After more than 13 years of teaching humanities at High Tech High, I realized that some of the most meaningful work I did happens in conversation with students — helping them reflect on their experiences, shape their ideas, and write with clarity, depth, and authenticity. In a moment when so much student writing is beginning to sound polished but interchangeable, I’m especially interested in helping students say something real.

My background is a little winding: I studied American studies at Yale, worked for Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, earned a law degree, clerked for a federal judge in Pittsburgh, practiced labor and employment law, and eventually found my way into nonprofit leadership and education. Along the way, I’ve read thousands of student essays and helped hundreds of young people find their voices as writers and thinkers.

I offer individualized college essay coaching for students applying to colleges, honors programs, scholarships, and special academic opportunities.
